PeriData.Net®: The Challenges
To effectively solve problems, you must first be able to define them.
PeriData.Net® is a secure, web-based platform used by hospitals across Wisconsin to enter clinical perinatal care data. These data show the reality of perinatal care - what is working, what is not, and is an invaluable source for developing evidence-based recommendations and quality improvement.
WAPC’s interest in PeriData.Net® is to assure the availability and adequacy of perinatal data, assure comparability of data, and ultimately improve perinatal outcomes. WAPC does not have access to hospital data, nor is it the warehouse.
PeriData.Net® and its predecessor, PC-LOG, have supported clinical measurement and quality improvement efforts since 1988.
PeriData.Net® offers hospitals the following advantages:
- Hospitals own and control their own data.
- PeriData.Net® allows for HIPAA-compliant, secure transmission of birth record information to the State’s Vital Records program.
- PeriData.Net® allows data migration and integration with other systems.
- For hospitals without a perinatal database, the system can be that database.
