Wisconsin Sport Fish Advisory
Many pregnant women do not know about the prenatal effects of the chemical methylmercury, which is found in many types of fish. If you are pregnant, use caution when eating fish.

Prenatal exposure to methylmercury has been associated with delays in infant walking and speech, as well as attention and memory deficits and may impact the development of the autonomic nervous system and result in long-term changes in blood pressure and heart rate. There is also concern about the impact of methylmercury on the growth and development of breastfed infants, since methylmercury is excreted in breast milk.
